These training courses provide you with the skills you need to reach out and provide initial support to someone who may be developing a mental health or substance use problem and help connect them to the appropriate care.

Equip Your Team with Mental Health & De-escalation Skills

Peninsula Behavioral Health is now offering Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) and De-escalation Trainings for local businesses thanks to support from the Olympic Community of Health (OCH) Recompete grant. These trainings provide employees with practical tools to recognize signs of mental health challenges, respond effectively, and safely de-escalate tense situations in the workplace or with the public.

Who Is Eligible

Trainings are available at no cost for:

Businesses located in Clallam County
Employees between the ages of 25–54
Employers who hire at $26/hour or more

What is Adult Mental Health First Aid?

The Adult Mental Health First Aid course is appropriate for anyone 18 years and older who wants to learn how to help a person who may be experiencing a mental health-related crisis or problem. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, psychosis, and addictions.

What is Youth Mental Health First Aid?

Youth Mental Health First Aid is designed to teach parents, family members, caregivers, teachers, school staff, peers, neighbors, health and human services workers, and other caring citizens how to help an adolescent (age 12-18) who is experiencing a mental health or substance use challenge. Topics covered include anxiety, depression, substance use, disorders in which psychosis may occur, disruptive behavior disorders (including ADHD), and eating disorders.
